    • Dave came to Oak Cliff People in July 2010, after moving to Oak Cliff in May. Prior to that, he was a reporter with Pioneer Press, a 39-publication chain in the Chicago suburbs. Dave spent 13 months as an AmeriCorps volunteer in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, helping to rebuild the Crescent City. While there, he figured out he liked the South (along with jazz, gumbo, and second-line parades).

“A passionate, and sometimes dark, interpretation by our artists of St.Valentine’s Day,” Hay wrote. “Join us for this fresh perspective and meet the artists.”

  • Quoth the Raven, Where am I From?

We’re trying to find out the origin of the raven statue on top  of Ravens Pharmacy in the 500 block of West Jefferson Boulevard.

Does anyone know who installed it and why? Always helpful, conservation league president Michael Amonett said his uncle  and grandfather built the pharmacy itself, but didn’t know where the original owner, George Raven, found the statue.

Amonett recalled the statue’s eye lit up. Does anyone remember about this?

  • Who Has Two Wheels and Goes Carless Six Days a Week? This Guy

Here we see Brandon Huddleston, Kessler Plaza resident, and a man who barely touches a steering wheel.

When Kings Highway resident Jonathan Braddick challenged locals to not use a car for a whole day a week for one year, Huddleston signed up.  He really could have  signed up for a six-day hiatus, because he only runs errands one day a week.
