Once its own town and still fiercely independent, Oak Cliff can boast not only of its proud history and its diversity, but also of the hilly streets and exposed limestone that make its terrain anything but the usual prairie.
North Oak Cliff, the original settlement, is home to artists, architects, musicians, and professionals of all kinds. Beautiful homes, old and new, overlook Stevens Park Golf Course, which opened in 1922.
The thriving Bishop Arts District — home to a variety of restaurants, shops and night spots — has become a magnet for visitors from all parts of Dallas. A tight-knit group of residents hosts festivals and parties there seemingly every week, many of which promote the area’s bicycle culture.
People Newspapers publishes Park Cities People, Preston Hollow People, and Oak Cliff People. Its publications have won numerous awards from the Texas Press Association and Suburban Newspapers of America, including the prize for the best weekly in Texas 16 times.
