Oak Cliff Loves Oscar: Academy Awards Parties Await

A couple of beloved venues are celebrating the little golden guy this Sunday.
Texas Theatre is hosting a free party that features a “VIP Sponsor Lounge” with food by American Outpost Tavern and wine by Oak Cliff Cellars. If you enter their “Pick The Winners” pole for $3, you could win two badges to the Oak Cliff Film Festival (worth $175). Organizers encourage the crowd to “dress to the nines,” so I’m sure at least a few folks will be donning their finest. It’s also worth noting that the theater is screening Oscar-nominated short films throughout the weekend.
Fittingly, with Barbra Streisand singing at the Academy Awards this year for the first time in eons, Barbara’s Pavilion is hosting a party, too. In addition to $2.50 glasses of champagne and $4 “Red Carpet Fizzes,” the bar — which is popular for its karaoke All-Stars — is also hosting a “My Picks” contest, with prizes going to 1st and 2nd places.
