Is Cityview Food Store Selling Illegal Arms, Autos?

As I mentioned here, at around noon on Saturday, police were conducting a business inspection of Cityview Food Store in the 800 block of North Lancaster Avenue. A police report says that the business “has in the past sold prohibited weapons, as well as unlicensed auto sales.”

The report also says that the store manager, Shahed Azzam Musleh, gave officers permission to search the store, and the items found are telling.

Police confiscated three shotguns, a handgun, a modified rifle, at least two high-capacity magazines, six live ammo rounds, three clips for small-caliber handguns, a sword, a pair of handcuffs, a set of female body armor, a tactical vest, a pellet gun, three laptops, two computers, two car stereos, a couple of Blockbuster DVDs, and a couple of gun holsters/cases. One of the shotguns, found behind a cash register in a small back room, was stolen from DeSoto.

More confiscated items after the jump!

A glass display case by the front of the store contained various items including a prohibited weapon, drug paraphernalia, and bootleg CDs – all of which were for sale the manager confirmed.

The store manager was arrested on forgery, possession, and prohibited weapon charges. Custody of the business was released to the owner, who at the time, does not appear to be facing charges.

I spoke with Cpl. Black from the DPD, who says that despite the large quantity of items confiscated, there was not sufficient evidence to shut the store down at the time. An investigation is being conducted, he said, because both the narcotics and organized retail theft divisions were notified.

Do any of you patronize this grocery store? If so, have you noticed other (potentially illegal) items being sold “under the counter?”
