What’s Cookin’ in The Cliff This Weekend?

We didn’t have space for a calendar in the paper this week, but that won’t stop us from letting you know what’s going on in your ‘hood this weekend.

Methodist Dallas Medical Center is hosting a seminar on congestive heart failure risk today at 11:30 a.m.

Dallas’ own Camille Cortinas Neal will be crooning at Bar Belmont at 7 p.m. tonight.

Austin-based country musicians the Gourds are performing at the Kessler tonight at 8 p.m. The King Bucks open.

Beware of Mr. Baker, which documents the career of Cream and Blind Faith musician Ginger Baker is showing at Texas Theatre at 6:30 p.m. tonight. At 8:30 p.m., Texas Theatre bartender Susie Sue celebrates her 39th birthday with a screening of one of her favorite films, The Shining. The party continues after the film with a themed costume contest and drink specials all night long.

At 2 p.m. on Saturday, at the North Oak Cliff Library, Nadine Burke will teach youngsters about trees and guide them in creating their own tree with materials that the library provides.

St. Cecilia Catholic School is holding a family Mass at 5 p.m.

Texan rocker and artist Terry Allen is performing at 8 p.m. at the Kessler. Carrie Rodriguez opens.

If you didn’t make it to the Texas Theatre on Friday, you can still catch Beware of Mr. Baker at 5 p.m. on Saturday, or The Shining at 7 p.m. The films will also be showing on Sunday at the same times.
