Lineup For Spring Salon Series Announced

Jack Erwin's "Lemmon Avenue"

The Oak Cliff Society of Fine Arts has announced the lineup for its Spring Salon Series which is held at Turner House, the 101-year-old home of the society:

Feb. 21: Houston gallery owner William Reaves will present “Beyond the Dallas Nine: The Regionalist Legacy in Texas Art.” The discussion will trace the evolution of Texas art from the latter half of the 20th century through the present. Reaves will examine the themes and influences that distinguish Texas artists and set their work apart as a unique brand of American art. The salon will mark the opening of a weeklong exhibition of more than 50 paintings by the late Jack Erwin.

March 21: Renowned singer and songwriter Floramay Holliday will bring her special brand of old-school country music blended with contemporary. Holliday, who lives in Oak Cliff with her husband and two young daughters, has performed with her band around the world, but the special Turner House performance will be solo.

April 18: Marcel Quimby is a principal at Quimby McCoy Preservation Architecture, which specializes in the restoration, adaptive use, and architectural conservation of historic buildings. Her illustrated lecture will address the revitalization of neighborhoods, preservation of mid-century architecture, and what can be learned from preservation successes and failures.

Each salon will be from 7:30 to 9 p.m., and doors will open at 7. Refreshments will be served. Tickets are $15 for Oak Cliff Society of Fine Arts members and students, $20 for everyone else. Series tickets are $50 and $35. They can be purchased at the door or via the Turner House website.
