Councilwoman Jasso Launches New Initiatives Against Domestic Violence
Councilwoman Delia Jasso announced three new initiatives to combat domestic violence in a press conference yesterday. The initiatives are:
1. Prioritize domestic/family violence warrants issued by DPD.
2. Support the development of DPD’s Blue in School program, adding a domestic/family violence element in the curriculum.
3. “Aggressively increase” awareness of assistance programs and options for those affected by domestic/family violence.
“We have a lot of work ahead of us,” Jasso said. “That’s for sure.”
The Domestic Violence Task Force got started by the City of Dallas’ Public Safety Committee in 1987. Councilwoman Jasso has chaired it since Oct. 2011.
