Are You Riding The Megabus This Holiday?

Oak Cliff transit riders haven’t been very lucky lately. First, DART halved the 21 bus route this fall, which takes the neighborhood’s commuters to downtown Dallas. Two weeks ago, DART added a $1.25 increase to the day pass, but took away a bus stop — a lighted, canopied one, mind you — from Bishop Avenue and Canty Street.

But here’s something that might perk up your day. If you’re broke and plan on riding the Megabus this holiday — the Greyhound competitor that boasts free Wi-Fi, reclining seats, and fares as low as $1 — you can ride the 21 from Bishop Arts to the East Transfer Center downtown, which is also the departure point for Megabus. That means no parking drama and a ride that’s shorter than 15 minutes.

Also worth noting: Megabus is reintroducing California destinations to its schedules.

I’m still fuming about that change to the 21. I could get on at the end of my block and end up only a block or so from my wife’s job. I’ve been very excited about trying Megabus, but haven’t heard much about how it is to actually ride it. After the horror stories I’ve heard about riding Greyhound I’ve been cautious.
