Yesterday city officials and North Oak Cliff neighbors gathered at Colorado Boulevard and North Bishop Avenue to celebrate the first “complete street” in District 1. Councilwoman Delia Jasso and Mayor Mike Rawlings cut a ribbon signifying the completion of $3.7 million worth of improvements done to the road.
Jasso marked the historic day by having North Oak Cliff residents give a snapshot of the district with a time capsule. The capsule will be unearthed exactly 15 years from now on Nov. 20, 2027.
Her office collected items such as church newsletters, a Bible, a map of the future streetcar, a pamphlet on Methodist Dallas Medical Center’s new trauma center, a business directory from the Oak Cliff Chamber of Commerce, and a flash drive containing pictures of the area.
“Let’s hope they have something to play flash drives on in the future,” Jasso said with a laugh.
