Mural Finds New Home at Gloria’s

Rick Timmons, owner of Loco Gringo Studios, will be live painting this week at Gloria’s on Bishop. Timmons’ 17-foot mural features well-known Oak Cliff personalities, including Sara Tillman, Elba Garcia, and Spanky McFarland. This week, Timmons is in the process of replacing the central figure with owner Gloria Rubio’s image, and he invites patrons to watch him work. He expects to have the addition finished by early next week.

The mural, commissioned by Craig Schenkel, was formerly housed at Luckie’s Smokehouse. It has been in limbo since that restaurant’s successor, OC Smokehouse, closed. Rubio and co-owner Jose Fuentes recently expressed interest, and it now has a new home on the restaurant’s back wall.

You can stop by in the evenings this week to watch Timmons paint. The perk? There’s a great view from the bar.
