Veasey Cruises to Victory in District 33
There are two reasons we stopped covering the campaign for the 33rd Congressional District after the Democratic runoff:
1. Once state Rep. Marc Veasey of Fort Worth defeated Domingo Garcia of Kidd Springs, there were no Oak Cliff people left in the race.
2. Because the boundaries of District 33 were basically drawn to elect a minority Democrat, it was a foregone conclusion that Veasey would trounce Republican Chuck Bradley.
Sure enough, Veasey secured 66 percent of the 54,919 votes cast in the general election.
