Popular restaurant Mesa off West Jefferson Boulevard was burglarized along with western store, El Stillo Nuevo in a early morning robbery.

Both suffered loses overnight and, according to police reports, Mesa lost $4,000 worth of liquor and two flat-screen TVs with a combined value of $1,200. El Stillo Nuevo lost eight pairs of boots with a combined value of $800 and 12 western hats with a combined value of $4,800.

According to the report, Mesa owners reported two suspicious people who came into the restaurant before closing and asked for job applications. The report states that they filled out the application while looking around the restaurant and quickly left after.

Robert Wilonsky with the Dallas Morning News reported that after the suspects left, Jaretzy Reyes, the owners’ daughter and general manager, staked out the restaurant. The male suspect reappeared again and broke out some windows across the street.

According to Wilnosky, they called police for an extra patrol and after waiting an hour, no one showed.

Despite the burglary, Mesa is set to be open tonight.
