Chicago Trib Writer Lives Dangerously, Visits O.C.

The siren call of Bolsa makes people do crazy things. (Photo: Bolsa)

So, a writer with the Chicago Tribune recently toured both of Dallas’ arts districts — from the rechristened “downtown Arts District” to, of course, the Bishop Arts District — but apparently began to tremble upon encountering an industrial patch of landscape and Spanish-language advertising.

“Some tourists might be tempted to turn back,” Wendy Donahue explains, but somehow the Nebraska native musters the courage to continue treading the menacing turf — all the way to culinary hotspot known as Bolsa.

Also, she apparently did some window shopping and browsed a gallery or two. Yawn.

What attractions would you have suggested she check out on our side of the river?

She should have gone to the Bishop Arts Theater, the Kessler & Texas Theater for culture. Shopping Dude Sweet Chocolate, Ends of the Earth and had lunch at Eno’s.
