Dunne Has Notre Dame All Over It
Bishop Dunne has just received a $2,000 Chris Lary Memorial Award from the University of Notre Dame, says school spokeswoman Judy Porter. The money will go toward new landscaping and a brick pathway for Dunne’s interior courtyard (which is, I’ll attest, already pretty gorgeous — with a koi pond and such).
The annual grant honors the late Chris Lary, a 1996 Notre Dame graduate who was involved in the university’s Alliance for Catholic Education program. And fittingly, two new ACE teachers will be on staff at Dunne this fall.
Factoid: I don’t have details about current students’ college plans, but the campus already has quite the Notre Dame presence, with 12 alumni having taught this past school year. Ten of those are ACE graduates, says Porter, meaning Dunne — which is relatively small — has more than any other Catholic school in the country.
