There’s no shortage of good chow in the Bishop Arts District, (which managing editor Dan Koller refers to as “The Bishop Eats District.”)

As a fella who lives just two blocks away, I can attest how hard it is to resist the siren call of Lockhart Smokehouse’s burnt ends or Oddfellows’ chicken and waffles. So it helps that Cliff dwellers now have a health-conscious snack option at a smoothie shop that sprung up at 443 W. Davis St.

Last night, Oak Cliff native Jaime Gallegos and his wife, Amy, hosted the grand opening of Open Lid Nutrition with great fanfare. The couple drew a crowd by offering samples and a nice set of beats by Durty Laundry’s mobile dancefloor/T-shirt boutique.

The couple offer a dozen or so smoothies that are all under 300 calories and made with Herbalife supplements and fresh fruit. One crowd favorite — the snickerdoodle — has a hint of sugar-free pudding.

Guests pay $6 for a daily membership, not per drink. So raise your glass.
