Kidd Springs Rec Center Gets Bells and Whistles
I think we all kept an excited eye on renovations at Kidd Springs Recreation Center [warning: that link contains a photo of a painfully cute baby duck], so here’a an update:
On Thursday, the city’s Park and Recreation Department signed off on another $139,672 that’ll go to project contractor Speed Fab-Crete Corporation for additional painting, security cameras, new interior doors and frames, a marquee sign, a card reader system, and “other miscellaneous changes” at the rec center.
With that increase, the 2006-bond-funded project now has a $1,484,160 price tag. The new sum that board members just approved is “project contingency money that hasn’t been used up,” as Park and Recreation Department director Paul Dyer explained, so it’s going toward “enhancements for the project that were needed, but that we were not sure we could initially afford.”
