What’s Cookin’ In The Cliff This Weekend?

Wanna score a sexy eligible bachelor for a fab cause (raising money for youth arts and education programs)? We thought so. This Saturday evening at 8 p.m., the Bishop Arts Theatre Center will host its annual Bachelor Auction Fundraiser. Thirteen hotties will strut their stuff — and if you purchase VIP passes, you’ll get the opportunity to mingle with them at a private reception starting at 6:30 p.m. General admission is $35; VIP passes are $50. And, word, this is a black-tie affair!

In the mood for art? The Padilla Gallery will be holding an opening reception for “Beyond Infinity,” Saturday evening at 8. Or if you’re prepared to get down and dirty and give Oak Cliff nature a hand, Twelve Hills Nature Center is hosting a work day on Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. Volunteers are needed to help maintain the butterfly garden, remove invasive plants in that area of the nature center, and do some good ole’ fashioned weeding. Bring a stash of tools for weeding, such as clippers, trowels, etc., plus, work gloves, water, and sunscreen.

On Friday evening at 7:30, Miah Arnold will give a reading at Oil and Cotton Creative Exchange. And on Saturday and Sunday also at Oil and Cotton, you can have a blast with “Retro Portraiture” — painting a series of portraits of your relatives based on old family photographs.

As for your music scene…Friday night: Sarah Jarosz and Betty Soo will be performing at the Kessler Theater at 8:30; Tyla Taylor will be at Eno’s at 9, and Salim Nourallah will sing at Bar Belmont at 8 p.m. As for Saturday night: Bruce Robison and Kelly Willis will be at the Kessler at 7:30.

And, don’t forget, The Dark Knight Rises will be playing all weekend at the Texas Theatre, so check their website for showtimes.

Have a great one!
