Hmm…A Lil’ Interesting OC Trivia

So almost every Sunday night, my husband and I have dinner at my parents house, along with my grandmother. This last week, we thought we’d spice things up by playing a game of Dallas trivia.

Mind you, NOT Dallas the TV show trivia, but the city of Dallas and all its history, quirks, sports’ heroes, etc. (It’s pretty much Trivial Pursuit about Dallas.) Being that I’ve been on the Oak Cliff beat for a while now, I thought I’d breeze through any OC questions…while giving all sports questions to my husband. Not so much did I breeze.

Caveat: My parents purchased this game in 1985.

OK, see how you do at this bit of Oak Cliff trivia:

Q: In 1900, Oak Cliff voted not to merge with Dallas because they did not like the city ordinance requiring that what be kept off city streets?

I’ll give you the day to give me the correct answer.

It was over an ordinance that horses, cattle and hogs be fenced or tied down 24/7. Oak Cliff allowed animals to roam free during the day and only be fenced/tied at night.

Some OC neighborhoods today still seem to be fighting that ordinance :-)
