Golf Club of Dallas is Oak Cliff’s Hidden Gem

Come on in. The water's fine at The Golf Club of Dallas.

My family was invited to a 7-year-old’s birthday party Saturday at The Golf Club of Dallas, formerly known as the Oak Cliff Country Club. The first thing we saw after I parked the car was a guy in jeans and a hoodie, climbing a fence. I said to my wife, “This may be the only country club in America where that is happening.”

Despite that inauspicious start, we fell in love with the place. Previously, we’d been to this club only for a pair of Easter brunches. On Saturday, when the weather was perfect for swimming, the pool was practically empty; I wonder why. Given my sons’ growing love of swimming and golf, we’d sign up for a membership if we lived anywhere close to it.
