Oak Cliff Lions to Get Their Motors Running

If you love motor sports, tomorrow is the day to call your favorite Oak Cliff Lion and ask him/her to take you to lunch. The speaker at the Lions Club’s weekly meeting will be Eddie Gossage, president of Texas Motor Speedway. Also scheduled to appear are:
- Jim McElreath raced in the Indy 500 times 15 times. His best finish was third place in 1966, but he made the top six five other times.
- Charles “Smiley” Sitton is credited with being the first person to do 200 mph on a quarter-mile drag strip. He owns Outlaw Driving School.
- Phil Harris has been driving race cars for 56 years and teaches at Outlaw Driving School. His father, Lion Corky Harris, is the chair of tomorrow’s program.
The Oak Cliff Lions Club meets at noon on Wednesdays in Weiss Auditorium at Methodist Dallas Medical Center.
