Street Artist Shepard Fairey to Invade Oak Cliff

According to Michael Granberry at the DMN, Shepard Fairey, who is known for his Andre the Giant “OBEY” designs and the iconic poster he designed for President Obama’s campaign, will be creating a dozen or more murals throughout Dallas.

Sites include Oak Cliff, Deep Ellum, and West Dallas, Granberry said. “Highland Park is not on the list,” the writer added.

Um, duh?

In any case, keep your eyes peeled. Fairey will be spinning at the Dallas Contemporary on Friday, so surely we should be seeing his work popping up on a blank wall near you.

Since his work is being allowed on Dallas/Oak Cliff walls, I would hope that Jasso will let other graf artists paint murals freely just the same. It is an art, graffiti art.

I guess his walls won’t be part of the infamous graffiti wipeout?

Or maybe he will open Jasso’s eyes to what can come of a great grafitti artist doing great things for a community. ha
