Luckie’s Loss, OC’s Gain? You Be The Judge!

If you’ve driven down West Davis recently, you may have noticed something’s missing…sort of. Still guessing? Luckie’s Smokehouse went the way of the dodo and closed its doors for good on August 29.

Don’t fret just yet. You’ll still be able to get your barbecue fix somewhere besides Lockhart’s. Only four days after Luckie’s said so long, OC Smokehouse opened in its stead. The new barbecue eatery will offer a wider variety of bar food (including barbecue sliders…hmm), three new side dishes, new draft and bottled beer — and, of course, better barbecue.

Nhat Ngo, manager at OC Smokehouse, said their barbecue is better than Luckie’s because they have more control of the kitchen and what’s being served.

“Our attention is more focused on quality,” Ngo said.

Also on the up-side: more shade on the deck, a better A/C unit, a re-paved parking lot, and repainted parking spaces.

Who has better barbecue: Luckie’s or OC Smokehouse? You be the judge and let us know!

Haven’t eaten here yet but I could never get past the idea of bar-b-que with NO SAUCE! Will be checking it out soon!

Peggy, you are thinking of Lockhart’s. OC Smokehouse has 3 sauces made on site. My favorites here are the Ribs and Chicken!

If the meat needs sauce they need better meat. If you want good food go to Papa Joe’s.

Luckies is better. Plus Nhat was a Luckies partner and started his own bbq smokehouse. Something stinks here !
