  • We Don’t Have to Read All Those Books, do we?

Here we see a group of Kessler School students examining book donations to Goodwill Industries of Dallas during a Friday (Nov. 19) tour of the organization’s 270,000-square-foot warehouse and processing facility on Westmoreland Road.

The kids got the tour after a donation drive at the school Wednesday and Thursday. The drive generated 2,420 pounds of donations from 91 donors, wrote Diane Fullingim, vice president of development for Dallas-based Goodwill.

For more details, see the story in this week’s Oak Cliff People.

  • Charity and Learning Linked at the Kessler School

The Kessler School is getting ready for a donation drive tomorrow (Nov. 17) for Goodwill Industries.

The school will take collections from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. tomorrow and Thursday, said school operations manager Marci Adams.

School children will also be touring the Goodwill donations processing plant on Westmoreland Road Friday morning, she added.

“We wanted to get the donation drive to educate the students on how the process works,” Adams said. ” This is the perfect time for people to get together and clean out your closet, and help your community.”

Adams added the school also is conducting a food drive for the North Texas Food Bank through Nov. 22, with donation boxes outside classrooms and the office.
